[1] Some might remember that I used to do this quite a lot. Specifically, from 1992 to 1996, issues 10 to 23 of Eidolon. Damn near ruined my ability to read for pleasure for about ten years afterwards, I might add. This time around, it was an unsolicited review of a book I bought for myself. I don't think I'd ever go back to reviewing anything given to me, unless I got to choose it! |

Uh, yeah, but only out of the pool of stuff sent to you. I'd rather review things I'm already reading. Speaking of which, I should have one for Shards done soon, and Slice of Life soon after. ;)

Yes, I've taken to reviewing the books I was reading anyway for ASif - I rarely even ask for review copies from AS if when it's stuff I want to read, because the pressure is too much.
Besides, I already have too many books. The thought of free ones isn't all that enticing unless it's something I would be willing to pay for right now anyway - I think 4 years of Aurealis Awards put me off the 'free book' thing. Free books=work, and my time is too precious these days to read books I'm not 100% excited about. | |
