the mist - quite good king adaptation, though it needed a much better actor than thomas jane to carry off the lead, and much less of a perpetually shrill and annoying actress than marcia gay harden as the crazy lady. rating - new release rental.
28 weeks later - rip-snorting follow-up to 28 days later, less thoughtful but much more exciting. beautifully paced, it never lets up once. well acted, written and directed. definitely worth it. rating - dvd purchase (under $20).
the bourne ultimatum - see '28 weeks later'. almost everything in that comment applies here too, apart from the thoughtful thing. amazing that three films can be so damn consistent. threequels everywhere, take note. rating - dvd purchase (under $20).

I preferred 28 Weeks Later to 28 Days Later by a long shot, because it had shrugged off the elements of the first film so heavily plagiarised from The Day of the Triffids. | |
